The individuality of the vineyard.

At Benziger, we've been making wine since 1980, and making wine using formal sustainable grape growing methods since 1996. We have a longtime, long-term view here. This kind of winemaking is just "In our Nature." We believe in taking care of the land that takes care of the vine that produces the wine that takes care of the family that takes care of the land... cyclical responsibilities.
Signaterra wines represent both a continuation of our Benziger farming philosophy and an exciting breaking of new ground—wines from premier Sonoma-appellation vineyards (in Russian River, Carneros, Sonoma Valley) where we, in conjunction with our grower partners, farm certified sustainable, organically grown or Biodynamic® grapes. Signaterra is about integrating the right resources of the Earth, the inescapable forces of Nature, and the attentiveness of Man into a distinctive wine.
The 2008 introduction of our Signaterra line includes two wines:
Our 2006 Bella Luna Russian River Pinot Noir: In 2006, the vineyard was farmed using high-level sustainable farming practices and is now in transition to official Demeter Biodynamic® certification.
Our 2007 Shone Farm Russian River Sauvignon Blanc: Shone Farm Vineyard is farmed organically and uses Stellar-certified sustainable grape growing methods.
